The Band Perry, Darius Rucker – New Album Details

Two of the more highly anticipated albums on the horizon are those in the making from The Band Perry and Darius Rucker, and as the weeks have gone on, a few details continue to leak out.  This past week, news of collaborations with some other industry greats have only added to the excitement surrounding these new releases.

As we’ve known for months, The Band Perry has been hard at work on their sophomore album.  Apparently, earlier this year, the trio had a songwriting session with Sheryl Crow.  Kimberly Perry has revealed that Crow is one of artists she’s looked up to for years.

“A huge influence of mine has always been Sheryl Crow.  Lyrically she’s so creative and completely unique to herself.  She’s a strong lady and a fantastic performer.  I have always looked up to Sheryl.”

Well how’s that for a compliment?!  Wow.  There’s no confirmation that a song they wrote together will appear on the band’s new album…but it certainly raises speculation.  Could there be a guest appearance by Crow on the record?  Who knows….like we said, anticipation to hear this new album is even higher following this news.

And while we’re not sure about what transpired between Crow and The Band Perry, we do know that Darius Rucker produced a quality track with Lady Antebellum that will appear on his upcoming album.  The song is a cover of Bob Dylan’s hit “Wagon Wheel,” which Rucker performed as a surprise guest during Old Crow Medicine’s set at the Grand Ole Opry on July 6.

“I recorded a version of “Wagon Wheel” for my new record & @ladyantebellum sings on track,” Rucker revealed via Twitter after his July 6 appearance.

The album, the former Hootie & The Blowfish frontman’s third solo effort, will be released via Capitol Records.  While the release date is still unannounced, odds are the record will be another impressive effort, following in the successful tracks of his other discs, ‘Learn to Live’ and ‘Charleston, S.C. 1966.’  A new single from Rucker is expected very soon.
