It’s been awhile since we’ve posted news about Taylor Swift. Part of the reason is because it seems like there’s a news article just about every day about her, and more often than not, it’s either full of speculation and rumors, or it’s about trying to create drama between her and other celebrities. She doesn’t care about that, and neither do we. That being said, news has broken this week about Swift that is actually music-related, so we figured we’d pass it along.
Taylor was recently named as the recipient of the 2012 Honorary Star of Compassion Award by the Northwest Disaster Services. The award was given to Ms. Swift in relation to her charitable donation efforts, which, as we all know, have been a huge part of her focus from the very beginning of her career.
She donated $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, 14,000 books to Nashville libraries, and $500,000 to various flood relief efforts in Tennessee last year. In one of the more unique charitable efforts, Taylor also opened up the dress rehearsal for her Speak Now world tour to raise money for tornado relief. This was a very well-deserved award for Taylor, indeed.
And speaking of Nashville, Taylor was noticeably absent from the CMA Music Festival last week. For the most part, she is taking time off from the road and appearances following the conclusion of her tour. And during her downtime, she’s working on music for her new album. Of course, no specifics have been revealed in terms of a release date, but we have been hearing of collaborations she’s been enthusing on the songwriting side of things.
We’ve already heard that Swift has worked with Ed Sheeran, Butch Walker, Dan Wilson, and Lori McKenna. Just this past week, though, it has leaked that she’s been working with Mark Foster of Foster The People. As we’re sure you’re aware, Foster and Swift have been rumored to have a mutual love interest. As for the song, Mark was excited with the result:
As we said, no release date or any other details relating to song titles or any other material has been made available. There’s no doubt, though, that Taylor’s new album will be one of the most anticipated releases that we’ll see in years.
We’ll keep you in the loop with any Taylor news, but as of right now, it looks like one of the only times we’ll get to see her in the public eye this summer will be at the Teen Choice Awards, for which she is nominated for four awards. The show airs live on Fox on Sunday, July 22.
