The CMT Music Awards have always been one of the more exciting events of the year for country music. While other awards ceremonies certainly have an extensive amount of prestige, the CMT Awards are voted by the fans, for the fans, and are seen LIVE by the fans. The event also serves as one of the unofficial kickoffs to the CMA Music Festival in downtown Nashville.
Hosts, performers, and nominees have been announced for the show already, and, as always, it’s shaping up to be a star-studded evening in Music City.
As in previous years, the host(s) are one of the keys to the success (or failure) of any awards ceremony, and the CMT Awards are no different. Toby Keith and Hollywood actress Kristen Bell will host the show, slated for June 6 at the Bridgestone Arena. We all know Toby’s accomplishments, most recent of which being his two nominations for his hit single, “Red Solo Cup.” As forBell, she’s currently starring in the series “House Of Lies” on Showtime.
In addition to the hosts, CMT has also announced a slate of performers and presenters for the event. Initially-confirmed performers include Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, and Zac Brown Band. More recently, the network announced more performers: Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, Pistol Annies, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and Hank Williams, Jr.
And as always, tickets are available for fans from all over the country to have ready-access to leading up to the event. This is one of the elements that make the CMT Awards truly unique. Most such-events are inaccessible to fans, but this one is unlike any other.
This year’s show has a well-rounded list of performers, which promises to make this one of the more interesting ceremonies in the awards show’s history. With the diversity between Carrie Underwood and Lady Antebellum in contrast with Hank Williams, Jr. and Zac Brown Band, the CMT Awards truly implement something for every type of country music fan.
