Nominees Announced For 2012 CMT Music Awards

The nominations were announced this morning for the 2012 CMT Music Awards via NBC’s “Today” Show.  As usual, the typical country heavy-hitters lead the way on the nominations front, fronted by none other than the lovely Carrie Underwood.

Carrie, who is offering her brand new album, ‘Blown Away,’ on May 1, is nominated for five awards, while Miranda Lambert is slated for four awards, including two for her work as a member of Pistol Annies.

Following close behind is a slew of top acts with three nominations a piece, including the likes of Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars, and Thompson Square.

The CMT Music Awards are no in their 11th season, airing from Nashville live on June 6, and will once again occur the night before the official beginning of the CMA Music Festival.  The CMT Awards are fan voted and are polls are open now at CMT.com and on CMT Mobile and CMT Insider Apps for respective phones, iPads, etc.

As has been the case in previous years, the five nominees for video of the year will be announced at the beginning of the live show and fans can then vote at CMT.com, CMT mobile, on the CMT Insider app and via text message throughout the telecast.
