It seems like awhile since we’ve heard new music from Chuck Wicks and Bucky Covington. Both had promising debuts into the country music world, and have embarked on some pretty big tours opening for the genre’s biggest and brightest stars. But now, just this week, we’ve learned more about what we can expect from these two in the coming months.
Chuck Wicks has been hard at work on his sophomore album…and while a ton of details haven’t been made available just yet, it doesn’t seem that anyone is as anxious for his new music than Chuck himself. After all, it’s been four years since he made his first mark on the country music scene with his debut album. But now, after years of touring and songwriting, he’s ready to get out of the studio, put out new songs for fans to hear, and get out on the road.
We think it’s time too.
But while we await his sophomore offering, he’ll be represented in a song from Jason Aldean’s upcoming album, due out in October. The song is called “I Don’t Do Lonely Well,” written by Wicks, and he is elated that it was chosen to appear on Aldean’s record.
So as for his own record, when can we expect a release? Well, we’re not sure…no timetable has been given. But he has dished that his next single will be called “The Whole Damn Thing.” Things could change as we get closer to a radio release date for that, which, hasn’t been confirmed either. We’ll keep you in the loop on all things Chuck Wicks.
But while we’re not sure about specifically when we’ll hear new music from Chuck Wicks, we do have a confirmed release date for Bucky Covington’s next album. ‘Good Guys,’ the American Idol alum’s second studio effort, is slated for a September 11 release.
To amp country fans up for the release is his new single, “Drinking Side of Country,” which is a duet with Shooter Jennings. And as entertaining as the song is, the video promises to be even better. Shot just last week, it features the two singer/songwriters causing trouble, and also features Kellie Pickler, Mickie James, and Cowboy Kenny Bartram.
Shortly after splashing onto the country scene, Bucky received minor ridicule due solely to the fact that he was another American Idol contestant taking a stab at a music career. This guy is a great singer, songwriter, and musician. We’re lucky to have him here in country music…and we can’t wait to hear his new album, again, due September 11.
