Let’s change the format for today’s blurb about upcoming music:

Hunter Hayes

Country music is the home to yet another emerging crossover superstar.  Hunter Hayes is the talk of the town on radio stations and television shows across the country.  He has released a live album, available exclusively on iTunes, which features his number one hit “Wanted,” his debut single, “Storm Warning,” as well as three other tracks including “Somebody’s Heartbreak,” “More Than I Should,” and “Love Makes Me.”

And as we all know, Hunter is currently on the road opening up for Carrie Underwood on her ‘Blown Away’ tour.  He’s nominated for CMA New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards, his single “Wanted” is approaching platinum status, and he is the only country artist in history to play every instrument, write/co-write every song, and co-produce his debut album.

Like we said, he is an emerging superstar.  Be sure to pick up his live EP on iTunes.

Thompson Square

We’ve been dying to hear new music from country music duo Thompson Square, and now they’re giving us a little preview of what we can expect from their brand new upcoming project.

T.S. will release “If I Didn’t Have You,” the lead single to their upcoming sophomore album, on October 29, but they’ve given fans the opportunity to hear a preview of the song before then.  As expected, the tune is a ballad between members Keifer and Shawna Thompson, and can be previewed on their official website.  The song was written by Keifer and Shawna, along with Jason Sellers and Paul Jenkins.

[box type=”shadow” ] “The song is a story about two people who rely on each other to get through the tough thing we call life,” Keifer said.  “We all have someone who we can go to for encouragement and this is our story.” [/box]

In addition to their new single dropping, Thompson Square has been making news for a number of other reasons as well.  They are nominated for Duo of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards, and they were recently confirmed as a special guest on Luke Bryan’s upcoming Dirt Road Diaries tour early next year.

They will also perform a special acoustic StageIt show live from Nashville on October 30, singing their new single, as well as their previous hits “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” “I Got you,” and “Glass.”

The Civil Wars

It was also recently announced that the The Civil Wars will release a brand new EP titled ‘Unplugged:  The Civil Wars.’  The seven track collection will be available on iTunes beginning on November 13 in both audio and video versions.  To say this is a rare and unique release would be accurate, as they have mixed songs from their previous studio effort, a selection of special appearances and releases, as well as a pair of covers.  ‘Barton Hollow,’ their debut disc, is well represented, as well as “Kingdom Come,” their song from “The Hunger Games:  Songs From District 12 and Beyond.”  They duo also recorded versions of “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson and “Sour Times” by Portishead.  Like we said…very unique.
