Dierks Bentley will release a brand new EP, titled, ‘Country & Cold Cans,’ on August 21. If that title sounds familiar, it’s because that was the name of his recent tour that hit shows in Canada and Australia, as well as here in the U.S.
[box type=”shadow” ] “We thought we’d celebrate the end of summer and back to school with an EP of new material that’s about cutting loose,” Dierks said. “It was really inspired by how young and crazy the fans on the Country & Cold Cans tour were earlier this year.” [/box]
With songs like “Grab a Beer,” “Back Porch,” and “Summer On Fire,” as well as the title track, it seems that having a good time is exactly what this EP is all about. We’ll keep you in the loop on all the latest news surrounding ‘Country & Cold Cans’ leading up to its August 21 release.
And a little over a month after Dierks’ EP drops, The Mavericks will release their new full length record, ‘In Time.’ When it hits shelves on September 25, it’ll be the first album from the group since their self-titled record in 2003.
[box type=”shadow” ] “The idea that we came together and made this record is a testament to faith, fate and chance,” Mavericks’ lead singer Raul Malo said. “All three were essential in the making of ‘In Time.’ In turn, this is the record we are most proud of.” [/box]
In addition to the group’s current single, “Born to Be Blue,” the new album features nine additional tracks, all penned or co-penned by Malo. ‘In Time’ will be released via the Valory Music Company.
While news of releases from Dierks Bentley and The Mavericks has just recently broken this week, Tift Merritt’s new album has been in the works for months, and now, we’re learning more details about the upcoming fall release.
Merritt will release ‘Traveling Alone’ on October 2 via Yep Roc, and her nationwide tour has recently launched this week. With her first release since 2010’s ‘See You on the Moon,’ Tift expressed her intent on making a raw, uncut, unfathomed record this time around.
[box type=”shadow” ] “I really wanted to make a record that was real and raw. I wanted to put together my dream cast and see if I could hold my own with them,” she said. “To me, ‘Traveling Alone’ is about the roads on the inside – those places that are hard to see and not easy to send postcards from.” [/box]
The album will feature “To Myself,” which is currently streaming online. As for the tour, Tift is on the road from now through mid-November, splitting time on various dates in an opening slot with Mary Chapin Carpenter before headlining the latter part of the tour with Justin Townes Earle in the fall.
