Who doesn’t look a good ole’ fashioned country music show? Well clearly, based on continued increasing attendance numbers at country tours nationwide, everyone does! But still, special events, appearances, and collaborations are what really stand out in this industry. Luckily for us, country music stars are always apart of some of the more unique and beneficial events year after year. And as 2012 will be coming to an end over the next few months, it appears that this year has been no different.
Charlie Daniels will once against be hosting the Christmas 4 Kids this year, taking place on November 19 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. This will be the 11th Anniversary of the Charlie Daniels Band and Friends Concert, which will also feature Thompson Square and Phil Vassar. More acts will be announced for the event over the coming weeks. Fan club pre-sale tickets will be available on September 15, while tickets will be available to the public beginning on September 29.
Christmas 4 Kids is a truly wonderful organization, providing less fortunate children with their very own shopping spree. Funds that are raised through the event, as well as other associating events, are used to give over 400 children a full day shopping spree. For more information, log on to the Christmas 4 Kids official website.
Keeping with the holiday spirit, a few country artists will be apart of the upcoming holiday music series, ‘A Very Special Christmas 25th Anniversary.’ The set will be released on October 16 via Big Machine Records, and will feature The Band Perry, Rascal Flatts, and Vince Gill, among other non-country artists (Train, One Republic, Jason Mraz). As in years past, the proceeds of sales will benefit the Special Olympics. In all, the ‘A Very Special Christmas Series’ has generated more than $100 million since its inception in 1987.
And finally, remember a few weeks ago when we heard about the headliners of the “Teachers Rock” TV special? Well you can add another name to that list…Garth Brooks.
The country legend joins other stars Carrie Underwood and Dierks Bentley who will be performing on the television special, airing live this Friday, August 17 at 8:00PM ET from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. In addition to the country stars, the show will also include appearances by Usher, Adam Levine, and Josh Groban, as well as recollections and reflections on the importance of education in the lives of celebrities, including Meryl Streep, Morgan Freeman, and Jennifer Garner.
The “Teachers Rock” special, airing just before most children will head back to school, celebrates teachers and education and the influences they have on our lives.
Don’t get us wrong, here; musicians and artists from each and every genre participate in wonderful charitable functions and organizations. But it does seem as though country music is usually the best represented. It speaks to the character and morality of the genre, the industry, and the individuals behind the music. We’re proud to cover country music on a daily basis, and it’s because of events like these. Check back here at MCE for the latest updates for these upcoming events.
