Carrie Underwood And Kenny Chesney Among First Performers Announced For CMT Music Awards

For the past decade, the CMT Music Awards, unlike a number of other award ceremonies, accurately portray the likes and dislikes of those who really make the difference in country music and its musicians: the fans.  Why is that?  Because these awards are voted on by YOU, the country music fans!  The 2012 edition, the show’s 11th anniversary, will air live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on June 6 on CMT and CMT.com

Year after year, the stars always come out for the CMT Music Awards, which has become one of the unofficial kickoff events for the CMA Music Festival.  This year’s guest list promises to be as impressive as ever, and there have already been a slate of performers announced, with many more to come soon.

Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, and the Zac Brown Band have all been confirmed as performers for the Awards thus far.

Underwood, fresh off the release of her fourth album, ‘Blown Away,’ leads all nominees with five nods, including Video Of The Year for “Good Girl.”  Her live performance of “Just a Dream/Dream On” with Steven Tyler from “CMT Crossroads:  Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood From The Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam” is nominated for CMT Performance Of The Year.  Carrie is also nominated for Video Of The Year and Collaborative Video Of The Year along with Brad Paisley for their hit duet “Remind Me.”

Lady Antebellum is nominated for three awards, including Video Of The Year and Group Video for “We Owned The Night,” as well as CMT Performance Of The Year for their live rendition of “Dancin’ Away With My Heart.”  Kenny Chesney is up for Video Of The Year as well as Collaborative Video for “You and Tequila” with Grace Potter.  Zac Brown Band is in two categories, Group Video Of The Year for “Keep Me In Mind” and Collaborative Video Of The Year for “Knee Deep” with Jimmy Buffett.

As previously mentioned, fans can vote now at CMT.com or by using any other Apps or mobile devices.  Voting ends June 4, and again, the show airs live on June 6 from Nashville.
