There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a summer music festival. Consequently, due to the overwhelming popularity of such events, more and more concert promoters are creating these types of festivals that attract thousands of fans, regardless of location.
Live Nation is at the top of that list, as they announced the first installment of the Watershed Music Festival in George, Washington. The event will be held just east of Seattle, and is scheduled for August 3-5, featuring music (obviously), camping, late night performances, jam sessions, collaborations, and more.
So who will be headlining this three-day inaugural extravaganza? Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, and Sara Evans, to name a few. Good enough? If not, add Kix Brooks, Brantley Gilbert, Thompson Square, Uncle Kracker, Dwight Yoakam, Tracy Lawrence, Reckless Kelly, the Lost Trailers, Steve Holy, Johnny Reid, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett, Morgan Frazier, and DeeJay Silver to the list.
Wow! What a lineup! But, as we’re sure you’re wondering, why George, Washington?
[box type=”shadow” ] “The Gorge provides a feeling that is impossible to recreate anywhere else. It is truly a magical place and provides the perfect setting for a cool, eclectic country event. We wanted to create something that didn’t exist, from the caliber of artists to the camping and the atmosphere. I’m excited to be a part of it and see it all come together,” promoter Brian O’Connell said. [/box]
The three-day festival, based upon the anticipated atmosphere and the already impressive lineup, promises to rival the nation’s top country festivals. In addition to national acts, the grounds will also have a local stage that will feature regional acts each night. More artists are set to be announced in the coming weeks from now leading up until the festival in early August.
Without question, Lambert and Shelton are one of country music’s mega-couples, and we can surely expect a duet or two between their sets. This lineup is impressive an diverse, from up-and-comers to established superstars, and from traditional crooners to modern pop-influenced hillbilly rockers. And there are still more artists to be announced! After the first weekend in August, George, Washington may quickly become known as the destination for one of the most intriguing festivals on the country music circuit.
